Happy New Year (2010) and a free pattern

Happy New Year to all. May 2010 be a wonderful year for us all.

To welcome that thought I am offering the fingerless glove pattern free

My Bleeding Heart
Fingerless Gloves
Materials: 1 skein of Malabrigo Yarn in Rayon Vert 440 yards (you will not need that much yardage for these gloves), 4 size 2 dps needles, stitch holder, stitch markers, 53 cm beads glass, 1 needlepoint needle for threading beads on the yarn.
Directions: cast on 60 stitches (20 stitches per needle) being careful not to twist the stitches join and knit in K1 P1 ribbing for 8 rows. Begin pattern for glove *K1, P1, K1, P1, K2 tog, yo [2 more times] *continue to end of row. Next row K1, P1, K1, P1, K6, continue to end of row. Continue in pattern for 7 inches. Begin work for thumb. K1,P1,K1,P1, K2 tog, yo,[ 2 more times] (repeat one more time ) K1,P1,K1, P1, K2 tog, yo, K2 tog, yo, place marker M1, K1, M1, place marker K2 tog, yo,* K1,P1,K1,P1, K2 tog, yo, [2 more times]*, repeat 2 more times to end of row. Next row K1, P1, K1, P1, k6 continue in pattern to the stitch marker. Pass stitch marker to right needle P1, K1, P1, continue in pattern to end of row. Continue making a stitch at the markers every time the pattern is K2tog, yo, until you have 19 stitches between the markers be sure to do the thumb stitches in K1, P1, and pattern. Put the nineteen stitches on a holder and continue to end of row. Continue pattern to the thumb area and cast on 4 stitches which you will keep in the K1, P1, K1, P1, and ribbing. Continue for 8 rows then 4 rows of ribbing cast off all stitches. Pickup all 19 stitches from holder and pickup 6 additional stitches around thumb knit in K1,P1 ribbing for 4 rows cast off. Weave ends of the yarn at the thumb and fingers.
For the beading edge at elbow: thread onto the yarn a minimum of 60 beads cast on 10 stitches. Starting with the wrong side bring up one bead tight against the cast on stitches
Row 1:K2, P6, K2.
Row 2:P2, C4B, K2, P2
Row3: pull up a bead tight against work, K2, P6, K2
Row4: P2, K2, C4F, P2
Continue in established pattern until piece is long enough to be sewn to the ribbed cuff of glove. Gently, east cabled cuff onto the ribbed cuff of glove. Then, sew the stitches from the needle to the start of the cabled cuff. Weave the yarn tails into work.
