Finally went out and adopted a dog! His name is Charlie now (it was Barnaby but, he didnt answer to it). He is fun, and funny but he can climb chairs to the table and to the counter this is really bad as it upsets my husband big time.

Been knitting alot and should have my new line of baby sweaters on the website by Monday morning. Still awaiting news of the Great Grand due August 31st.

Merry Christmas for Ron was a granddaughter stopping by to visit on her way from NC to CA.

So, I finished 4 beanies for Granddaughter and finished a sweater. Made 2 pairs of socks for me Ya hoo!

Prime rib with baked taters and gravy.

The rain stopped and we had sunshine which was awesome. This week is the finish up the year week including the picture slides that are waiting for a new DVD home

Well, I had truly forgotten how much I love working with needle and thread. The tea towels for family plus aprons are complete now. Working on a placemat of flowers for Honey and I on holidays.

Although, I worked on the counted cross stitch during the day. From 4 pm til 8 or 9 pm I worked on knitting projects. Finished two beanies for grandbaby, have two sweaters for grandbaby on knitting needles.

Went to the Scottsdale Good Guys show Nov 18- 22 drive down was not the best we've had. Blew a fuse took Ron about an hour to make a jumper so we could continue on.... 20 minutes later blew out the highway side rear car hauler tire. Took Ron another hour to change while I stood at rear of trailer and waved people over from the lane.

Celebrated Thanksgiving with Ron and RD nice time and quiet this year. Working on the Christmas letter Ron likes to send out and addressing all the envelopes.

Still need to finish the design for Dodge Creations thats on needles. Told Deb would get to it by Dec 5th ....

Husband talked me into joining twitter. Having nothing of great importance I am posting a new scarf design for you to knit up with me. To catch everyone up to the twitter posts:

Lion Brand wool-ease 3 skeins, Size 8 US knitting needles, 4 stitch markers, cable needle or stitch holder which ever you prefer. Gauge 18 stitches equals 4" and 24 rows equals 4".

cast on 54 stitches. Pass the first stitch knit wise (but with the yarn in front of work), move yarn to back of work and knit all stitches. For entire scarf first stitch of every row is done the same. Knit 16 rows, Place a stitch marker after stitch 10, and 44. Rows 15-22 RS: Knit 10, Purl 34, Knit 10 WS: Knit entire row.

Begin pattern for big fat cable:

Place remaining 2 stitch markers after stitch 18 and 36.

Row 1: Knit 10, Purl 8, Knit 18, Purl 8, Knit 10
Row 2: Knit 18, Purl 18, Knit 18
Row 3: Knit 10, Purl 8, Knit 6, C12B, Purl 8 Knit 10
Row 4: Knit 18, Purl 18, Knit 18
Row 5 - 10 repeat rows 1 & 2
Row 11: Knit 10, Purl 8, C12F, Knit 6, Purl 8, Knit 10
Row 12: Knit 18, Purl 18, Knit 18
Row 13-16 repeat rows 1 & 2.

Continue in established pattern until scarf is at the length you prefer. Final rows

My newest product line is Colorful Elements. The yarn is so beautiful with the sheen of silk and the warmth of wool. The yarn is 50% silk and 50% wool. Colors are spectacular! I made them long 52" plus a 7" fringe on each end and they are 7" wide. Please please hand wash in cold water and lay flat to dry. These should be stored flat also.

Beloved Heya is slowing down even more she doesnt have much longer here with us.

As of June 24th I have stopped World of Warcraft. With my life on fast lane travel I havent been able to log in to say hi! The new patch went awful and I couldnt get logged in plus I had 6 attempts to get my information. So, I have resigned from WoW place Epiaa and BB with friends and uninstalled Azeroth from my computer. To all my friends and neighbors thanks for a wonderful adventure!

My daughter wanted a boat neck sweater so I did the original design in Bernat Satin (available pattern and yarn at Dodge Creations). Then, I sent the original to Debbie at Dodge Creation to use in the craft and artisan show she is attending in October. Because, I designed this for my daughter I needed to re-make it for her.

This is in Lambs Pride Super Wash by Brown Sheep Co., Inc. Instead of 700 to 800 yds this rendition needed almost 1,200 yds. So, I went back the "The Spinster" yarn store and purchased enough to to do a matching daughter one.

Listened to the "Sisterhood" series by Fern Michaels while knitting. Then this week started viewing Lost Season 1.

The title is for Debra Dodge of Dodge Creations She has been selling my patterns on her website for a few months. January she did a KAL with the simple vest pattern. Today, there is a page on her site for Karen Austin Designs. I am so deeply honored and excited!

This year so far I have Knitted the plain sock style:
Jan - red socks
Mine - sunset socks, brown socks
Sarah - sparkling socks, and brown socks
Christian - one pair of unmatched socks

Finally, starting to knit up a few extra pairs mostly in browns. Of course part of the reason is knitting in the sock Olympics on Ravelry.com

This design is called Sweetheart Design. Again, designed with the Bernat Satin Yarn this and the following design are being offered at Dodge Creations. This one has the fitted sleeve and I-Cord collar.

This design is the same basic pattern stitch but the sleeves are dropped and the collar is a simple one.

On needles at present is a Tank Top design, some socks, and the beginnings of another tank top design.

On another subject. To all my beloved TWOTW especially Phiir the best beloved. I am hoping that in another few weeks I will be caught up enough to come home for a visit. I miss you all very much. BB

My Bleeding Heart
Fingerless Gloves
Materials: 1 skein of Malabrigo Yarn in Rayon Vert 440 yards (you will not need that much yardage for these gloves), 4 size 2 dps needles, stitch holder, stitch markers, 53 cm beads glass, 1 needlepoint needle for threading beads on the yarn.
Directions: cast on 60 stitches (20 stitches per needle) being careful not to twist the stitches join and knit in K1 P1 ribbing for 8 rows. Begin pattern for glove *K1, P1, K1, P1, K2 tog, yo [2 more times] *continue to end of row. Next row K1, P1, K1, P1, K6, continue to end of row. Continue in pattern for 7 inches. Begin work for thumb. K1,P1,K1,P1, K2 tog, yo,[ 2 more times] (repeat one more time ) K1,P1,K1, P1, K2 tog, yo, K2 tog, yo, place marker M1, K1, M1, place marker K2 tog, yo,* K1,P1,K1,P1, K2 tog, yo, [2 more times]*, repeat 2 more times to end of row. Next row K1, P1, K1, P1, k6 continue in pattern to the stitch marker. Pass stitch marker to right needle P1, K1, P1, continue in pattern to end of row. Continue making a stitch at the markers every time the pattern is K2tog, yo, until you have 19 stitches between the markers be sure to do the thumb stitches in K1, P1, and pattern. Put the nineteen stitches on a holder and continue to end of row. Continue pattern to the thumb area and cast on 4 stitches which you will keep in the K1, P1, K1, P1, and ribbing. Continue for 8 rows then 4 rows of ribbing cast off all stitches. Pickup all 19 stitches from holder and pickup 6 additional stitches around thumb knit in K1,P1 ribbing for 4 rows cast off. Weave ends of the yarn at the thumb and fingers.
For the beading edge at elbow: thread onto the yarn a minimum of 60 beads cast on 10 stitches. Starting with the wrong side bring up one bead tight against the cast on stitches
Row 1:K2, P6, K2.
Row 2:P2, C4B, K2, P2
Row3: pull up a bead tight against work, K2, P6, K2
Row4: P2, K2, C4F, P2
Continue in established pattern until piece is long enough to be sewn to the ribbed cuff of glove. Gently, east cabled cuff onto the ribbed cuff of glove. Then, sew the stitches from the needle to the start of the cabled cuff. Weave the yarn tails into work.

Sandra Singh of Sandra Singh.com is developing with an indie yarn dyer a line of yarns based on the vampire books. She asked if I could do a design for this line and I came up with Chosen. The tactile cable binding at the elbow with crystal beads makes the lace and ribbing of the fingerless gloves pop. Although the gloves may look complicated they are super simple to knit. Preparing for the Winter Season (or Christmas)

This year I am pairing the hats and scarves together as a single item. The only real problem is getting the website up to speed. I hired in 2006, a consultant to set-up a shopping cart on the advice that it was more professional than a yahoo shopping cart. Still 3 years later I can't run the click cart pro application by myself and of course the consultant is long gone. Currently I am reading everything I can to understand the application.

Current projects are dog sweaters. Many of my friends and customers have asked for colorful and fun dog sweaters. Will be posting pictures of them as I finish them. Then will get posted to the website (hopefully by then I will understand the application better).

As always the shipping is free (USPS Priority mail) but, if you need UPS or FED EX overnight shipping is your cost. Paypal is the only option for payment.

Welcome to Scarves for All Reasons

Our model is Rachel she is especially good at modeling scarves.

My husband and I moved to our present home in 2003. We are 4,000 ft above sea level and live on 103 acres. No we don't farm the acreage, its open range land and we let the cows wander as they will. We do have to be careful of snakes and usually see at least 4 a season.

In 2004, I started Scarves for All Reasons and would claim the business as a small success. I did trade shows including a 14 day show at the Barrett-Jackson Car Auction in 2006. With my location so isolated I find trade shows difficult to schedule and get to, so have removed them from our business plan.

I joined Ravelry last year and found two excellent groups. One is the cyber store group (which is the sponsor of this tour) and the other is World of Warcraft.

I joined Ravelry last year and meet some wonderful people. In the process I met the people and businesses that are participating in a blog tour this month.

Today, is Dodge Creations a business I have purchased yarns from (they were wonderful) in the past year. She works with several designers (nope I am not one of them) and her blogspot is a fun read. Her Website is a very clear concise site with prompt shipping.

Tomorrow on the tour is Fiber Dreams an incredibly talented designer. Her lace shawls are a delight to the eyes and her fan club is HUGE.

Random Thoughts on Design Structures

This is a custom dyed New Zealand Wool Yarn 180 yards per skein. Total amount of yarn is 1,620 yd. (being concerned that with a texture stitch I would need more)and chocolate New Zealand yarn for the ribbing, cuffs, and front closure. Total yardage is 2,340 more than enough for an extra large men's sweater.
The request is from a friend in Quebec for a hooded sweater that zips up the front similar to his daughter's sweater.

The following measurements are what I request to do project:

wrist (around the wrist)
chest (nipple height)
waist (one inch above belly button)
hips (around largest area of butt)

From nape of neck(the little bone that protrudes at the base of the neck on the back) to wrist (for arm length)
From the nape of the neck to where the customer wants the length of the sweater (example waist, hips, butt, thigh, etc.)

neck measurement (around the base of the neck like a collar)
for a hood measurement from collar bone to collar bone over the head.

The next step is to roll all the yarn, label the storage bag, and begin a test swatch for the number of stitches per inch a particular pattern might use.

I usually pull out several size needles and run up the test swatches on 20 stitches, for at least 2 inches. With this yarn the needles that made up the best swatch was a 5 using a broken rib stitch. I wanted the texture to strongly compete with the colors so the two together presented a very warm fall appearance.

As many of you know I have been awaiting the birth of my beloved daughter's daughter. Today (March 3rd) she was born!!!
8:54 a.m. 7 lbs 13 oz and 20 1/2" long. She has curly dark brown hair already and is absolutely, unbeliveable beautiful. Lots and Lots of knitted clothes and an adoring Grandma. I will be here with daughter for another 3 weeks, then home to arizona again to see my beloved husband.

Okay, for those of you who are curious this is Epiaa just before the Wrath of the Lich King release. She is in the Argent Dawn leggings and carrying the crystal shield with the coil fang mace. This was my Christmas gift from my husband and I just adore having her on my desk.

These are scarves knitted for a friend's daughters. The black one is made with a 100% wool yarn and a carry along yarn by Trendsetters in gold, gray, and white. The Soft pastel colored one is made from a 55% wool 45% silk yarn custom dyed, the stitch used is a moss stitch.

Same friend wanted some new soft sweaters for her grandsons and a lovely (Pink Lemonade is the yarns color)hooded sweater for her soon to be born granddaughter. the final piece for her family is the shawl in forest colors for her daughter. It is big enough to wrap herself and the new baby in as she runs around in the cold.

Now, on to the doggie sweaters. These are just a few of the sweaters I knitted up this winter. The first is for my brother's dog (Jenny) who is a daschound and I had a great deal of fun making it for her. The second is Heya's sweater in black angora and a faux fur trim with sparkles I made the same one is a smaller size for a friend's dog named Baby Girl. The striped one is in Noro Kureyon and was made for Tommy (a black mini schnauzer)who comes to visit with the propane delivery guy.

This final picture is a prayer shawl made for a friend's Mother. It is very soft and warm. This was made from Caron Soft Touch and the fringe is in the same yarn with two similar colors mixed into the fringe for some depth.

Also made but not pictured are:
Scarf for my darling daughter in the same lovely 45% silk 55% wool as the pastel scarf above but in more of a coral and bright green colors.

Socks, Purple pair for Terry J. Lynn (the author who is on my friends list) Socks, 100% alpaca in sandalwood for a friend in New Mexico, Socks, in green and gray not claimed yet, socks in Noro Kureyon sock yarn with matching baby booties (for my daughter and grand daughter) Baby sweater for Princess Sofie, Baby sweater set with hat and socks for Princess Sofie.

Meanwhile, not only am I busy with the knitting and with the Guild on Moon Guard, but I am still reading a book a day (right now a lot of re reads), enjoying my husband's company and relaxing a little. I hope all of you had a wonderful New year.

Update and beginning the Christmas rush

First, busy summer and fall. I have made the following items:

This is an oversized, front zipper opening with hood for a four year old. Made with my leftover koigu yarns.

this is a design published in Vogue Magazine in 2005 that my girlfriend just loved. Only she wanted it to her ankles and with a hood. It was a challenge but lots of fun.

Now I am working on a size 4 boys sweater, size 2 boys sweater, newborn hooded sweater, 3 scarves and 1 shawl. As soon as I finish that order will move on to a large vest.

In March is will be working on lots and lots of newborn outfits Since that is when grandbaby is due.

Well, I have listed on ebay (seller name is kvaustin) many of my Noro yarns. I will be listing more over the next few weeks. Storage will become a problem if I don't plus the honey needs hotrod parts!!! Most of the listings will be Noro Kureyon, Sumile Multi, and the Silk Garden products. All are great to knit and wear!

Second, Its the anniversary of The Way of the Warrior on Moon Guard so we are busy planning advents! This friday we are doing the FP's of the Eastern Kingdom the hard way Running the whole way. Epiaa finally made lvl 65 and the Twins made 58! So, very busy with WoW, and looking forward to Wrath of the Lich King in November.

Its August soon (friday) and we have been going to Lake Mead more often now that we down sized our boat from 32 feet to 20 feet. We can get the boat in and out of the water! Poor RD is so use to rolling around on the hatch of the 32 foot boat she fell off the new boat twice so I really have to keep an eye on her.

Still working on catergoizing my coins and looking for the information regarding the country to fill in the blanks on my various collections. Argentina is where I am currently! Its time consuming but soooooo much fun.

Update for my friends and visitors

Just when I think that life will slow down and I will catch my breath a speed limit increase occurs.

On April 15th wehn I last posted and thought that I would begin to have the time to update this blog at least once or twice a month. Instead, April 22nd my girlfriend and I started 2 paladins in WoW on Moonguard (they are level 52 as of monday). All of our guild stays very busy and active in Wow so Blessingsbe stays busy also. This week is the Midsummer Festival and everyone is online and trying it out.

I tried "The Age of Conan" online and I hated it. Has of today the entire program is deleted from my system. Not going there again. In case you are wondering what I hated. They were constantly uploading new program ... I am on a satelitte connection limited to a download of 375mb per day. When they maxed me out 3 times and caused me to HAVE NO INTERNET ACCESS for those days. I am not happy.
Also, the big tada is the interaction with NPC's (nothing new reminded me of Ultima), the fact you can get naked (why would I want that?). Game was choppy, limited, sticky (as in your character get stuck and cant move) buggy, and NOT HELPFUL

Meanwhile, here I am not really knitting a lot and suddenly getting orders for my patterns, scarves, off the shoulder sweater, and a sweater coat for a good friend
So, I am knitting, on Ravelry.com (that is really a lot of fun), doing car shows with the honey, cleaning house, and re reading Catherine Asaro's Skolian Empire series.

Well its April 15th and yes my taxes are done and I paid taxes this year PFFFFFFFt.

I know that the Nightly Business Review, and the talking heads say that we are in a recession and that it could be a deep one. But, here are the recent observations I have made:
1. There are several new homes being build again. There is a large home being build in the middle of nowhere. New home starts in Kingman are rising.
2. No beggars on the street corners
3. Starbucks opened their own store not one inside a Safeway (we have both here)
4. Although peoples manners are not good there are a few more smiles than frowns.

I know this isnt very scientific way of measuring the "recession" but, it works for me. Like everyone else I am being careful with our funds, not expanding any of our ideas right now, and watching the talking heads.

We went north to Sebastopol a couple of weeks ago, visited friends and family. Had a nice time. The weather was nice a bit of fog in the morning but otherwise not bad.
Went shopping with my daughter and as always had a good time. Brought some nice summer clothes for me but no purse as I couldnt bring myself to pay 189.00 for apurse I didnt even like.

As for Moon Guard and TWOTW lets have a wonderful week.

Well, we are already into March of 2008. Where oh where is time going so fast? It was just yesterday (many moons ago) and now its tomorrow.

This year has been interesting so far. January was cold and we got some moisture but the drought is still hanging in there. We also decided to finally rearrange our office into just an office instead of a 2nd guest room and office. So, we have room for both of us to work, keep my research books handy, and all my documents in file cabinets.

February, was the Kaiser Car and we got a radio, looked into various upgrades for the car. We are still waiting for the 1951 Ford to be far enough along for a visit. We are now registered for the Route 66 Fun Run and looking forward to the start of the Starliner's car shows.

March, is exciting first as my daughter and her husband are coming for a visit. Second cause we may be going to visit Ron's son and family. Still waiting for the last of our tax documents to arrive so I can file tax return.

The biggest thing I am working on now is trying to understand the administration of the website. So far I dont know how to do anything and I get a headache trying to manage the data.

Yes, I am still here and still busy. No, I haven't forgotten my friends scattered around the world and knitting buddies. Yes, I haven't written here in a long time.

As many of you know I maintain my husband's blogspot (http://ronshotrods.blogspot.com) and guild site (http://twotw.guildlaunch.com)
I still knit, read, run into town 2 times a week (cut back one trip a week due to gasoline prices).

We put up solar panels this fall so 1/2 of our electric bill is sun powered. Lowered the interior temp. of house to 70 degress (cant get husband to agree to lower) because propane has gotten so expensive. Still, havent received any rain to speak of, but January 7, 2008 we got 3 inches of snow.

Started doing research into Chinese silver coins. So, spend time everyday reading the history of the coins (1858-1949) and the different mints. I have always enjoyed reading about history.

Well, I have let an entire month go by without communicating with you. I would apologize but its been wonderfully busy and happy time so I am sorry I didn't share with you faster.

September has passed by in a blur of fast motion. Car Shows, Trips to Los Angeles, Trips to Phoenix, chores, phone calls, and all of lifes wonderful daily obiligations.

We have a new great granddaughter. Everyone is healthy! And its serious sock season again this year. I have been buying sock yarn and a lot of it of the last few years. My husband always wonders when it will be used up. This season I have made hot lava socks, mixed purples, ravenclaw design, and have 3 more orders for socks already. It is lovely, when we travel I take the socks with me and knit while my husband drives.

And last but not least attended another Hot Rod Show with the Husband. Unfortunately, I forgot the sun screen so I am competing with a Lobster for who is the most red when cooked.

Finished Book 7

Well, this week was very busy. Joined a Sock Club by Fearless Fibers. Ordered some more yarn from Astrid's Dutch Obsessions.

Celebrated my Birthday with lots cards and phonecalls. Got, beautiful flowers from my daughter, and lovely shirt from my husband, and the 1885 nickel I needed for my collection.

BUT, the wonders of wonders was receiving my book 7 Harry Potter exactly when I expected it. Saturday A.M. at the mail box.

So, I came home and began to read.

The books was everything I antcipated it would be, every question answered. True fight between good and evil. And a delightful conclusion.

I will admit that I was a bit lost without it to work on yesterday afternoon and evening but I have on the needles 6 projects (5 designs) and lined up ready to be knitted is about 17 more.

Home Again at last

Finally, I am home again. The sight of the house on the hill visible from Petro was just wonderful. Everything is where it should be and even my house plants survived.

Our Grandson Ronnie K died. We are waiting for the Cornors Office to release the body for cremation and so we can schedule a funeral service.

Still In Computer Jail

By, now I am ready to maim a computer techie. I brought a new Dell XPS 710 before we went north. I wasn't going to buy another Dell due to customer service. But, the deal was good and I was promised good service from sells guy (I should know better than to believe a sells guy). Anyway, everything that could go wrong did including machine couldn't shut off, couldn't down load from internet faster than 2kb/s, and Outlook 2007 YUCK. Plus the darn machine came with Vista and no manuals and I read the darn manuals. I called for help and hit the India help desk whose advice was to reformat the the hard drive. Now, I have had a computer at home of various brands and sizes since PC Jr. and I know better than to reformat a hard drive. Well, I received in the mail a different phone number to use for tech support and talked to a wonderful real tech support person named Michael. After 2 1/2 hours we could download data at a decent speed, use Outlook 2007, but couldn't do a shut off. But, its okay. Plus, Michael helped me with my Dim. 8250 getting memory so that we can get our pictures, patterns, and spreadsheets from one machine to the other.

I am still working on the caroseul sweater for my friend Sharyn. I hope to finish it this month. I also hope I never have to do another. Beautiful sweater but, on size 3 needles ......... forever work.

These are from Regia Silk Color 55% merino wool, 25% Polyamid, and 20% silk has a very nice feel to the yarn.
My mystery skein partner Linda sent me some beautiful wool yarn and I got some Dangles yarn to make a shrug. Then some of the yarn for the Carousel sweater arrived so started practice squares (size 2 knitting needles) this one will be a long long time to make.

This weekend was a difficult weekend for our family. Linda, Ron's sister died on April 22, 2004 from lung cancer. We have had a lot of cancer related deaths in our family so today I want to remember them

Cancer is a very real problem for our family and one we live with daily. The lost of our love ones is very painful. We remember each one with love. The gazebo created by Ron is where many of them rest in peace. Ron and I sit out there with our morning coffee and talk over our plans. We have many other deaths in our family but, these are the ones that hurt the most.
May faith walk with you and yours today and all days.

Designing Shrugs

Started two different shrugs in the small (size 34) size so that I could finish them a little sooner than designing the original in size 1x. But, this morning I have to go the frog pond for three inches... very unhappy with the look.

This last week has been very busy. Interviewed for another client (bookkeeping) which is a couple of hours a month. Finished another bolero jacket, started another bolero jacket. Corrected the second christmas sock design now I just need to re-knit the socks. Jesse's socks he wants the ribbing to be 12" long now, so back to size 1 knitting needles for another pair of Jesse socks, maybe this time will be a different house design. Finished silk/wool socks (Regia yarn) size 8 for another friend.

Received in the mail this week Dangles yarn, 10 skeins of royal blue alpaca yarn, and some incredible new colors from MCY. No, I can't show you pictures of the yarn as I have to design, knit, and submit it first. I ordered a few other skeins of yarn that well, I won't re-order from them.

Place a huge order for KPPPM multis from Kyarns and Patternworks. Nothing like overwhelming list of projects yet to do.

Measurements for the Socks

Several people wanted the measurements for the Jesse Hufflepuff socks and the materials list. So, here we go
Opal Uni Black yarn 500 meters per skein
Fortissmo Sock Yarn 500 meters per skein
Camelia Yellow yarn 250 meter per skein
Size 1 knitting needles (6 dpn)
Cast on 20 stitches per needles 4 times for a total of 80 stitches and join without twisting. Knit for 2" with black yarn in a knit 2, purl 2 rib. The 4 rows of Fortissmo Sock yarn (in white and gray) 4 rows of black, 1 1/2" yellow, 4 rows of black, 4 rows of Fortissmo, and the 5" of black ribbing. Begin heel with 1" of stocking stitch, then do the round heel. Finish the heel and knit the foot ( 9 1/2") then begin toe decreases 1 on 4th row, 2 on 3, 3 on 2, 4 on 1, 8 on every row, until 8 stitches remain. Do the weaving how ever you choose.

Jesse is 6'7" which is the reason the ribbing is so long and he has a size 15 double e foot which is why it is 20 stitches per needle.

Designing Office Wear

This is a bolero type jacket done for a size 1x (model is a size 8) knitted in a seed stitch pattern with I-cord on all selvedges. Now, working in MCY's deep water color way and designing the skirt (simple A-line) to go with the jacket and a simple tank top or short sleeve shirt. Let me know if you like the idea of office wear in a bulky wool silk yarn.

Almost finished Jesse's second sock have about 4" more to do on the foot. Then I need to finish my silk/wool socks.

This Frog Sweater Pattern is by Plymouth Yarn Design Studio. I adapted the pattern to work in the Brown Sheep Nature Spun Sport Weight yarn. Got the pattern (page 27) and the yarn (page 49) from www.patternworks.com

This sweater pattern is also available from www.patternworks.com (page49) I went ahead and used the recommended yarn (Nature Spun by Brown Sheep) but, completely changed the colors. The original pattern is called Midnight Prowlers by Mary Martin her site is www.theknittingneedle.com

I really enjoyed both of the patterns. Now, back to designing Louie the Lobstah Labghan.

Mystery Skein Swap Partner Linda

I joined the Mystery Skein Swap #9 list mom C4G in January and Lillizard and I became parnters. Which was interesting as both of us agreed we would do overseas and then choose a partner in the same state Arizona. Lillizard sent me some soft Patons yarn needing size 3 needles and I made her the head scarf in the picture. She also send me some shea butter soap. I sent her some lovely 100% merino wool and a project back with some stitch markers, a measuring tape and a pair of blunt nose scissors.

Today, I received from Lillizard the first pair of socks every made for me.!!! They are wonderful. She also sent me some dishclothes which I have wanted but, don't have the time to make. Hoards and Hoards of Stitchmarkers and they are lovely. A 2 skeins of lovely teal yarn that has a bit of a sparkle to it. I feel so spoiled.

Size 1x (although model is very small)no seams, cabled front and ribbed back. Made from 100% silk customed dyed by Mystical Creation Yarns. Pattern is available thru MCY.

Size 8 made from silk and bamboo yarn custom dyed by MCY. This was a free form knitting, no seams, everything is knitted to each other. An adaption of the pattern has been developed for size large thru 1x. and will be available at MCY by next week.

f) Pick up new "old" car for husbands shop project
g) Visit Step Son and Family
h) Buy Coins.

Got everything but the last item done. The coin shop I like to visit was closed for the day. So, I didn't buy the 1885 Liberty Nickel I wanted to get for my collection of nickels. It is the only one of the Liberty Nickels I am missing. Still working on the Buffalo Nickel collection as I want full dates, and I am only missing 2 of the shield nickels.

Daughter loved her custom designed tank top that I made for MCY. Pattern will be available thru MCY later this week. Did the old clients books, and visited with Eddie who also collects coins.

Everyone is doing well in the family and we had a good time. Really glad to be home where the temps are 88 degrees this week. We will be cooling off next week.

Finally, finished the spring line designs for MCY. They are on their way to New Mexico, and I am typing up the directions on the computer from my rough handwritten directions. Since, these are for the Spring line I can't put a picture of them on the blog. So, I thought I would share a few of my other crafty items. None knitted. The dog is HEYA one of our Mini schnauzers. HEYA is amen. The koi pond quilt was made for my step daughters new home all hand pieced and quilted. The koi is made from silk. The dollhouse was made for my grand daughter and took me almost 3 years to complete.

These are the headbands a customer ordered via telephone on Wednesday evening. The conversation went something like this.
"Can you make me a black and shiny headband?"
"What kind of shiny?"
"You know shiny like the copper scarf and hat you made me."
"Okay, chenille and eyelash, I have black, black and white, and black wool with gold, gray, and white."
"Make one of each and we will see which one she likes".

So, for all of you who wonders what it is like to knit for a living. There you have it a customer!

My schedule really is to knit all day and into the evening hours. I am usually up at about 5 am (todays the exception being up at 3:30am with husband). Spend an hour on the computer reading emails, dealing with website and blog. Then I make breakfast, clean a little, make the bed,etc. Then knit, knit, knit, until noon make lunch. Clean up from lunch, knit, knit, knit. Break at 3 pm and sit with husband in shop and talk about our projects. Knit, knit knit make dinner eat at about 5:30 pm clean up set up coffee and knit knit knit until 9 pm go to bed and SLEEP!

This is made with DK cashmere dyed by MCY in the passionate heart color way, and a 50% wool, 50% angora varigated yarn (purple, pink, fuschia) the pattern is by Chris Bylsma Designs and very well written. The size is 1x and a very nice fit. Now, off to do tank top and other projects.

and was sorted several months ago into Hufflepuff House. Well, I decided to design socks for Hufflepuff, and a Hedwig sock that should keep me busy for next month or so. Hedwig sock will be done in blue white and gray for Project Spectrum.

As always these are for all of you but especially Isabelle! Enjoy. Taken this week Feb 5th and 6th.

Knitting wise still trying to finish the first of the commissioned sweaters. Finishing the sleeves today and delivery tomorrow. Then I have the yarn to start another of the commissioned pieces.

By Monday, the shipment from Mystical Creation Yarns (MCY) should be here and I will begin the final rendering of tank designs so that the designs work.

Well, been very busy with knitting several sweaters for a client using her purchased patterns. Fun sweaters and all HOT PINK. Will post a picture here when I have finished the sweater and delivered it to the lady.

Still getting ready for spring with several tank top designs for MCY. They will be available for purchase in March/April. Need to remake all the designs in sport silk, and make sure the adjustments of sizes are correct.

Driving to Lake Mead

The mountain in forefront is Bonelli, and the cliffs in the distance are the Grand Wash Cliffs part of the Grand Canyon.

These are hills outside of Kingman Arizona. Trying to share our hills versus Maine's hills. We are headed to Temple Bar Arizona on Lake Mead. The weather is hazy so my pictures are only good for about 15 to 30 miles.

This view is from turn off to Bonelli Bay the water is down in Lake Mead but it is still beautiful.

The drive takes about 2 hours one way so I worked on another pair of socks. I found a lovely lady who likes baby socks so I now have a way to use the end of skeins from socks. Today, is a run into Kingman day and meet with a client who wants sweaters knitted, afghans made etc. Busy Busy. IT IS FINALLY RAINING HERE!!!Thank God

This view is from the front door looking East. The funny looking peak is actually called Austin Peak. No it wasn't name for my husband or I. We didn't even know that was the name of the mountain (6,000ft) when we brouht the property in 1994. We started building our home in 2002 and the builder said "Did you know that is Austin Peak?" We thought he was pulling our leg so bought the geological survey maps of this area. Sure enough its Austin Peak.

Catching Up With The World

Well, Hughes.net came on by the house (guy was out of Phoenix and did a service call in Winslow first) put a new antenna up and a new modem in the house. Modem in the house will have a problem come spring with moths that get in the house being attracted to the blue lights. So, many of the machines in the house emit light at night. Coffee maker has enough green light emitting that I don't have to turn on lights to see my way into the bedroom.

Sunday, the local newspaper (Kingman Daily Miner) published in the business section a very nice article by Jennifer Bartlett concerning my internet business www.scarvesforallreasons.com I really enjoyed the article and quite a few people from Kingman have dropped by the blogspot (google analytics).

Still making socks. Finished the set of size 10.5 womens, moving on to the size 15 mens, then finally size 12 double e womens. Also, designing a cotton tank top for spring/summer.

Crazy week

Monday morning early I posted to the blog regarding the fun fur beanies and that I had finished 2 more pairs of socks. Logged off the system, and 2 hours later came back to NO INTERNET ACCESS. I am totally dependent on satelitte dish from Hughes net to get to the internet. Called and spent 2 hours with "help" desk. They sent me to a higher up tech who said I needed even more help. So, it has been strange using a 2800kps access to even read my email never mind any good stuff. Last night at 7 pm (which is very late for me as I am up by 5 every morning) they called to walk me thru doing a frequency re-set. They wanted to dial in to fix problem and I informed them that we have no land lines for them to dial into the system. Then they were going to send tech help out to house........ I informed them that tech help in our area is from Las Vegas, NV or Phoenix AZ and can take up to 3 weeks to get here. Scheduling problems. Anyway, I am temporarily (sp) fixed.

In the meantime I started 2 more pairs of socks, 2 lovely shawls from Mystical Creation Yarns wool/silk and got my research books for the penny collection.

Hats for Boston Hospital Children

Well, being terrible at finding old photographs I can't show a picture of the hats and scarves I sent to http://minisoup.blogspot.com I found this project on blog. Since, I lived in Boston for 5 years during the 70's I thought great project to participate in, and for a worthy cause.

Playoff socks are done. 2 pairs in Opal Feeling. The next big project is a shawl from Mystical Creation Yarns. It is still very cold here. Bearing in mind that Arizona isn't where you expect 12 degrees in the Morning. Was in town yesterday getting truck fixed and couldn't believe how many people had frozen pipes. What a mess.

Starting a New Year

Well, 2007 is certainly starting out very different than last year. Quiet New Year's Eve (hard to wake the neighbors when we are in bd at 8:30) and a quiet New Year's Day. First thing on tuesday that happened was a sock order, President Ford's Funeral, and phone calls regarding accounting. All the accounting calls were past urgent.... so, raced (30 miles one way) into town to help out people. Got, a new accounting client so I get to do accounting work 4 times a month not including my own books.

Received a large order of sock yarns from Astrid at AstridsDutchObsessions.com I got the Opal Feelings collection, and some Trekking yarn for some socks that people asked for in December. So, knit knit knit.

The Shop addition exterior is completed, the interior walls are now completed, the doors are on the shop, and now the lighting is being arranged. Husband is slowing down a little in the frantic race against cold weather.

We have heard from all our family and everyone is doing well which is a miracle much appreciated.

End of Year Sunsets

The husbands stained glass gazebo with the rain not making it to the ground The clouds were so impressive and the gazebo so beautiful I decided to share again. (becoming abore and need to show other stuff)

This is taken down the Round Valley where the sun is breaking out is Hackberry on Route 66 and Laughing Jack Peak on the Grand Wash Cliffs which are part of the Western Grand Canyons. Where the weather is clear (most days) we can see to the peaks just before Lake Mead. Lake Mead is the largest man made lake in Unites States.

In the meantime (or back on the ranch) getting the house ready for New Years. Dusting, cleaning, and putting away things.
